Harmonising the Waves of Life: The Key to Flow and Well-Being

I have always understood life on three levels.

1. The Circuits of the Universe/Cosmos.

2. The Circuits of the Earth/Life around us.

3. The Circuits of our own Form - Mind - Body - Breath - Heartbeat Matrix.

The Philosopher in me has been able to integrate the macrocosm with the microcosm. I have been able to understand some basic laws of life and their attendant interplay and consequence for a more harmonised living. Some of this has been understood during my deep meditations and some by intense research on internet and study of Vedic Literature.

Today, in this blog, I wish to highlight some aspects, essentially focusing on one variable, ie Sinusoidal Nature of Everything(sine wave) and the need to harmonise or sync these frequency waves.

Understanding time as a sine wave rather than a straight line reveals a fundamental truth—life itself is a series of interconnected oscillations. At both the microcosm (individual life) and macrocosm (cosmic scale), the secret to peace and fulfilment lies in aligning with these natural rhythms rather than resisting them.

The Consequence of Misalignment: Stress, Anxiety and Anger

When we fall out of sync with these natural waves, the result is dis-ease -manifesting as stress, anxiety and even anger.

1. Stress

Stress arises when the external rhythm (work, deadlines, social pressures) clashes with the body’s internal waves (sleep cycles, natural energy fluctuations). A forced, unnatural pace (like overworking without rest) distorts the natural wave of productivity and recovery.

The solution? Align with your ultradian rhythms (90-minute cycles of focus and rest) rather than forcing constant output.

2. Anxiety

Anxiety is often a mental misalignment - our thoughts race ahead while reality moves at its own rhythm. When the mind is out of sync with the present moment, it creates turbulence in the mental wave, leading to worry and fear.

The key? Breathe in rhythm, slow down and sync thought with reality.

3. Anger

Anger is a waveform spike - an unnatural, sharp distortion of the emotional flow. Like an out-of-tune instrument in an orchestra, it disrupts the harmony of personal and social relationships.

The remedy? Observe the rising emotional wave, ride it without resistance and let it settle naturally.

Harmonising the Microcosm (Personal Life) and Macrocosm (Universal Rhythms)

On the Microcosm Level (Self-Alignment)

Listen to the body’s waves: sleep when tired, eat when hungry, move when restless. Align with breath waves: deep, rhythmic breathing harmonises heart rate and mind.

Flow with emotional waves: accept highs and lows rather than fighting them.

On the Macrocosm Level (Aligning with Nature and Cosmos)

Rise with the circadian wave of the Sun for better health. This means to wake up and be exposed to sunlight early in the morning, aligning your body's natural internal clock (circadian rhythm) with the sun's cycle, which is considered optimal for overall health and wellbeing by promoting alertness and regulating hormone production throughout the day.  Do the same with seasonal waves - embrace the energy of spring, the introspection of winter and the energy of summers.

Tune into the cosmic waves of planetary motion, festivals and spiritual cycles (e.g. Ekadashi fasting aligns with lunar rhythms).

The Relationship Between Heartbeat, Thoughts and Breath

After many decades of Yoga and meditation practice, I could understand the role of rhythmic breathing in our life. As you can see above, there is a beautiful relationship between the three variables of Breath, Heartbeat and Thoughts. Each has its own algorithm(frequency etc) at play. Yet there is an inherent Alchemy when the three work in synchronicity with each other.

Ask an athlete about Zone 2 or Zone running or cycling. He will tell you the complete science of BPS(beats per second) and how it affects the body.

Ask a monk about breathing and he will tell you how rhythmic breathing affects the form or our body. So, a Sudarshan Kriya or Pranayam has its own unique algorithm to make changes in the form.

Ask a Scientist or a self help Guru and he will tell you that by changing the thoughts one can change one's life. We are what we think.

These three variables sit at the three vertices of an equilateral triangle(form/body). In the center sits the Soul. Remember that both the Form and Soul have their own natural algorithm and frequency. So, while the three variables described above effect the body, it is the Soul which when in harmony with all the variables, sings the melody of Peace and Bliss. Thus, the key is to align the three variables and thereby, align the body. Thereafter, when the body is in sync with these three variables, the resultant frequency is in resonance with the Soul frequency or wave and then this leads to Sat Chit Anand - a state of pure bliss.

The Key to a Pleasing and Flowing Life: Understand, Align, Flow

The wisdom of life lies in not resisting these waves but in understanding their nature, aligning with their rhythm and flowing effortlessly with them. Just as music is a harmonious blend of different waves, life becomes a symphony when we align our internal and external rhythms.

Like cycling in rhythm with breath and movement, life flows smoothly when we ride the waves instead of struggling against them. Therefore, by recognising that all difficulties stem from disharmony, we unlock the ultimate secret: A life of ease, joy, and natural flow.
