Rama's Life and Sacrifices

The Vanvaas or exile showcases the highest form of renunciation. A King to be coronated gives up the royal comforts and adopts the challenges of monkhood.
Search your heart and ask if you can do the same today. Maybe the import of his sacrifice can be measured by this one answer.
Sita's sacrifice is even greater. While Rama was ordered to go not Sita, she follows in the wake of her beloved. Her actions in many ways signify the value of bonds between a couple. In a fast growing material world where marriages hang by a slender thread nowadays, her actions raise significant questions on commitment in the institution of marriage.
Laxman's sacrifice is the greatest. In a fast moving mordern world how many brothers can actually emulate his example is anyone's guess.
Bharat took on the role of an officiating head of state. He did not eye the kingdom for himself as Duryodhan did in another era. Imagine how many politician will follow the example of Bharat if faced with a similar situation.
So, for me Lord Rama's story is one of character and ethics. It's a classic case study for us today.
I endeavour to follow in some which ways...
and honour the teachings from the life of Shri Rama.
Happy Diwali
Ashutosh Tewari
